Batch #2 - Irish Red

Posted by Al on Sep 28th, 2007

For those who don’t know, I am experimenting in the art of fermentation. Beer, that is. The first batch I made was in July and it was a Pale Ale. The lucky few who sampled it gave the Pale Ale a thumbs up. This has encouraged me to keep up what is a new hobby for me.

Our next batch is an Irish Red. “Our” being myself and Ash, my friend from work. We get our supplies from More Beer!, and we go in person to the Riverside location. We just finished putting our “wort” in the carboy, and it looks like our beer will be 4% alcohol when it is finished. It will take about one more month for the beer to be ready, so check out pictures from our second batch preparation.

Maki & Sushi

If you are ever in the Arcadia area, we recommend stopping by this little hole in the wall Japanese restaurant. The food is so good, we forgot to take pictures of it. Oh man, they really cut the sushi slices big here…if you get the right chef that is.

And apparently, I wear the same shirt every time I eat sushi…

Mmm, sakiSaki it to me, baby

Good Japanese food. I’m not talking sushi either. I was surprised, either this place didn’t have sushi, or we missed it on the menu. What they do have is raw, seasoned food ready for the grill. And you are the grill master. I usually don’t like cooking my food, a la the Strip Club in San Diego. But at least here, the grill is right in your table.
